Received a payment request you do not trust? Take a moment to check it. Infomedics warns about fraudulent emails and text messages using its name. Do not reply through the suspicious message or pay using the link it contains. Read the official Infomedics warning.
Infomedics also sends genuine payment requests by email. According to Infomedics, these come from [email protected] and contain a link to your bill, not the full bill as an attachment. A displayed sender address alone does not prove that a message is genuine. Read how digital bills work. If you remain unsure, do not pay through the message. Contact Infomedics using details you have found independently.
How to check a suspicious message
A familiar logo, your name or a professional layout does not prove that a message is genuine. Be cautious about unexpected requests, pressure to act quickly or an unusual website address. Correct spelling is not a guarantee either. Fraudehelpdesk explains what to look for.
- Do not use the link in the message. Open the official Infomedics website yourself. Find its information about fraudulent messages and checking your bill.
- Check before taking action. Do not judge an email by its appearance alone. If you are unsure, ask for help through a contact channel you have found independently.
- Distinguish the message from the bill. A suspicious email does not mean that every bill is incorrect. Have an uncertain bill checked instead of deleting all payment requests.
Reporting a fraudulent email
You can ask Fraudehelpdesk, the Dutch fraud helpdesk, to examine a suspicious email. Follow its instructions for reporting fraudulent emails. Where possible, forward the original email as an attachment so its technical information is preserved. For a suspicious text message or another type of message, use the reporting form linked on that page.
Do not post bills, identity documents or medical information in a public comment below this article.
Already paid or entered your details?
If you have paid through a suspicious message or entered banking details, contact your bank immediately through its app or a number you already know. Ask Fraudehelpdesk for advice about your situation too. See its guidance on suspicious calls and payments and phishing involving personal details.
If you have only received the message, do not act on its request. Check it first and report it if it appears suspicious.
